Infoslide: Reddit is a social media website which markets itself on connecting and appealing to niche communities to create forums for communication called ‘subreddits.’ These subreddits are managed and handled by moderators, an unpaid position roughly 75,000 strong, enforcing Reddit’s rules at their own discretion, spending up to several hours a day enforcing them. In the past, Reddit has had issues with misinformation and dangerous content being hosted on their website (e.g. The_Donald encouraged members to threaten public figures, GenZedong spread Russian propaganda on the Russia-Ukraine war). While bans were eventually placed on these subreddits, it was only after several years where they were big enough for media outlets to run stories on them.
